RTC Advises Memorial Day Travelers to Expect Heavy Traffic as Summer Travel Season Begins
RTC buses to follow Sunday schedule on Monday, May 25

LAS VEGAS – The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) is advising travelers to expect heavy traffic for Memorial Day, May 25, one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. Additionally, RTC’s 39 transit routes will operate on a Sunday schedule on Memorial Day. All travelers should plan ahead.
Heavy traffic is anticipated along the I-15 corridor, as visitors depart Las Vegas toward Southern California. Peak travel delays are expected on Memorial Day, May 25, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with travel times at the Nevada-California state line projected to increase significantly during that window. RTC encourages travelers to visit SeeingOrangeNV.com for real-time traffic conditions, sign up for traffic alerts and plan for alternate travel times when possible.
RTC transit services make getting around Las Vegas easier than ever for both residents and visitors, offering convenient, affordable travel options across the valley. Whether you’re heading to work, exploring the city, or enjoying the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, routes like the Deuce on the Strip keep you connected, with frequent service running every 10–15 minutes, 24 hours a day for fast, reliable access to top destinations day or night.
RTC recommends transit riders to use the free rideRTC app to plan transit trips and easily pay for trips, or tap to pay with a debit or credit card, smartphone wallet or smart watch. Passengers are also encouraged to check the RTC Alerts and Detours page for the latest updates on service changes, detours, or stop closures.
For those flying over the Memorial Day holiday, RTC offers a convenient alternative to driving and airport parking. Travelers can park free for up to seven days at the South Strip Transit Terminal or Centennial Hills Transit Center and take routes, including the Centennial Express (CX), Route 109 – Maryland Parkway and Route 108 – Paradise, directly to Harry Reid International Airport.
